The Performing Arts in Context - Meet the Artist

Readers Theatre Workshop has more than sixty professional artists on its regular hiring roster and many more on its extended list.

Many of these artists are available for single performances, followed by an optional classroom workshop, under an umbrella program entitled “Meet the Artist”.

In the workshop, the artists will discuss their personal experiences as an artist, the media they work in, the materials if any, they use, the study and training required to become proficient in their chosen field or craft, and the preparation they must undergo prior to a performance or exhibit.

This type of program is very enlightening for young students and teachers alike, who are often surprised at the hard work and training which underlies the seemingly effortless polish and self-assurance of the artist or performer in the presentation or exhibition of their artistry.

For those considering a long-term arts partnership or staff development program, the “Meet the Artist” workshop also provides a preview of the artists or performers, their presentation, and their interactions with students in the classroom.

The process to book a single performance and workshop is the same as with any other Readers Theatre Workshop program:

Contact an INC Associate to discuss your specific area of artistic interest, timing, and budget.  A choice of several different booking dates is usually necessary, and lead-time is important if you are planning a date specific event.
