Cultural Awareness Programs and Dealing With Issues of Conflict
Readers Theatre Workshop is staffed to provide teaching artists who have a strong background dealing with cultural diversity and issues of cultural difference, racism, prejudice, and promoting cross-cultural relations.
Depending upon the school and its needs, the Company will provide such a program in either a conflict resolution workshop setting, offering the students the opportunity to write about, discuss and dramatize actual situations while exploring their feelings in a safe space or as part of an ongoing after school program experience..
Using various theatre techniques, students can explore concepts in conflict resolution using acceptable self-expression (voice modulation, language, tone, and body language), as well as such issues of concern to teens as dating, friendships, authority figures, money, clothes, and other topical issues, in an appropriately supervised environment.
Programs for At-Risk and Special Needs Students
Since its founding in 1983, Readers Theatre Workshop has always enjoyed a reputation for providing effective, meaningful, and successful programs for the young, particularly those considered to be ‘at-risk’ students.
The Liberty Partnership, a joint project of InCollaboration and New York City’s LaGuardia College, is an extended day program specifically designed for behaviorally difficult or otherwise at-risk students.
Since 1995, InCollaboration Incorporated has provided extensive arts programming for students with special needs in English language arts, visual arts, theatre arts, music, dance, media arts and technology. The programs specifically require professional development, curriculum development, outreach to parents, methods for evaluation and assessment, and documentation.
With its depth of experience, and the support of your school and its teachers, InCollaboration will successfully create a comprehensive and integrated arts and literacy program for your students, including those classified as severely learning disabled, physically handicapped, or emotionally or behaviorally challenged.
